Demonstrating Health Solutions Science in Action

Rigorous, relevant, and actionable research into the behavioral, clinical, social, economic, and environmental drivers of health – what we call health solutions science – can make a measurable difference in people’s lives. Yet, the case for sustained attention and public investment in this science needs more emblematic examples beyond pilots. Examples would make the value of health solutions science more tangible to funders, policymakers, health systems, communities, and other knowledge users of this science.  

THE OPPORTUNITY

Through its More than Medicine campaign, the Pathways for Health Research Collective is launching a one-time collaborative request for applications designed to help build health solutions science’s record of impact. We encourage applicants to take big swings, seize the opportunity to build on research that has proven promising, and think deeply about how to build on the evidence to help people live longer, healthier lives.

INTERESTED?

This opportunity seeks projects ready to: 

• Address a significant health burden in the United States; 

• Apply well-supported knowledge to achieve a meaningful change in health outcomes or valid proxies; 

• Rigorously measure that change in a real-world setting; 

• Draw on the leadership, organizational commitments, and contributed resources needed to fully carry out the work; and 

• Show how health solutions science in practice informs innovations in policy, process, or practice in a way that could be applied in other settings, populations, or at even greater scale (e.g. from a local to a national setting).
